Seven Common Pool Installation and Maintenance Myths Debunked

Below, we reveal the truth of the most common pool installation and maintenance myths.

Myth #1: Pool Installation Is Expensive and Time-Consuming
Darlington’s Truth: We use the latest innovations that help us develop your budget and reduce the overall time-to-build to make your dream pool come to life.

Don’t get us wrong–installing a pool is both a time and monetary investment. However, with today’s engineering advancements and technologies, we now have the ability to expedite the time it takes to build of our clients’ dream pools, all while remaining within their designated budgets.

Myth #2: Pool Building Doesn’t Need Permits
Darlington’s Truth: We handle the obtaining of all necessary permits and compliance codes.

As much as we wish we could tell you that building a pool is as simple as making a “yes” or “no” decision, it’s a bit more complicated than that. Depending on where you live, there are certain permits that need to be obtained and codes of compliance that need to be approved and followed.

At Darlington Designs, we handle all of this for you in order to ensure a more seamless installation process.

Myth #3: Pool Maintenance Is Difficult
Darlington’s Truth: We provide you with simple, clear-cut maintenance instructions.

Custom inground pool in the backyard of home during the day, with trees in the background. Pools do require maintenance. However, if you follow these simple steps consistently on a weekly basis, you’re looking at two to three hours of maintenance per week:

  1. Skimming the surface of your pool two to three times per week
  2. Vacuuming your pool once per week
  3. Testing and balancing the pH level of your pool once per week

For those of you who are extremely busy, there are even tools available for sale that will allow you to automate most maintenance processes.

Myth #4: Pool Maintenance Takes a Significant Amount of Time and Energy
Darlington’s Truth: We offer packages and installation technologies that allow our clients to reduce the amount of energy used and time spent on maintenance.

The technology we install in the pools we build reduces the amount of energy used and time spent on maintenance, whether or not you decide to hire someone to do it for you. We also offer additional packages that reduces the time spent on pool maintenance to virtually zero!

We can also provide advice on additional items for purchase that can address any of your concerns regarding time and energy to maintain your pool. Pool accessories–such as heaters, pumps, and filters–are more energy-efficient than ever, using approximately 30% less energy than they used to.

Myth #5: Pools Are Just for Recreation
Darlington’s Truth: We can educate on the many uses and benefits of owning your very own pool.

Sure, pools are fun, but they also provide a multitude of health benefits for adults and children alike. From low-impact exercise to physical therapy, pools can be an excellent source of fitness and rehabilitation.

Myth #6: Pools Can Only Be Used During Summer
Darlington’s Truth: We know the best tips and tricks to maximize your pool’s season (and if that’s not enough–we can build you a year-round-use spa!).

Although summer may be the most enticing time to use your pool, pool owners in NJ can extend their pool’s yearly season up to six months by installing and using a heat pump.

For those that don’t want to give up water activities even during the winter months, you could also consider a spa! With the right care and maintenance, spas can be used year-round, no matter the temperature. We provide the same great design, building, and installation services for spas as we do for pools.

Myth #7: The Pool-Building Process Requires Too Much of Homeowners’ Time
Darlington’s Truth: We are a “one-stop-shop” that handles the entire process from conception to build!

This could be true for other pool builders in NJ, but not with Darlington Designs. We respect and value your time, and understand just how busy modern families are. Given this, we believe in being a “one-stop-shop” for all of our clients’ needs.
